A footing or pier inspection is priced from $600 + GST per inspection, as a fixed fee in writing within one business day of receiving the drawings and the site address. The fee is set against each site and each visit: travel, the number of footings or piers exposed, and whether compaction testing is folded into the same visit. AS 3798 sets two levels of geotechnical inspection and testing for engineered fill. Level 1 means the geotechnical testing authority is on site full time while the fill is placed, supervising every layer. Level 2 means part-time inspection with testing at set frequencies, and the contractor is responsible for the work between visits. The specification or the structural engineer names the level; SFGEO supervises and tests to whichever applies and issues the fill certification.

Yes. The engineer inspects at bearing level when the excavation is open, on day works or night works, or first thing before the formwork goes in.
